History is written by the victors, but what happens to the stories from the losing side? Propaganda, simplified narratives, and changing language have shaped the way we understand the past — often leaving out the messier, more complicated versions of events. From conflicting eyewitness accounts to words that don't mean what they used to, researching history means questioning everything — even the stories we've accepted as fact.
