The 1812 Overture played by Prince's Band in 1910
4m 34s
From the extensive “O’Grady Collection” is The 1812 Overture, as recorded in 1910, with historical information and pictures to accompany the music. This acoustic recording was performed by Charles Adams Prince and Prince’s Band for Columbia in New York City. The music was gathered by a large acoustic horn which transmitted the instrument vibrations directly to the cutting needle for a disc record turning at 78 rpm.
The disc has been carefully preserved and the recording is excellent. Enjoy this unique composition, just as it was played and recorded, at Columbia Studio: The 1812 Overture by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
