The Forgotten Victims of the French & Indian War

The French and Indian War is an often overlooked part of American History, that has many lasting effects. The outcome of the war changed the destiny of Native Americans in North America. The French and Indian War was a conflict between Britain and France for control of North America. While Indians allied themselves with both European nations, they predominantly sided with the French.
After the British won the war and expelled the French from North America, the Native Americans had a new reality to deal with. Many British colonials wanted to move further west and settle new lands.
Due to the Indians largely siding with the French during the war, they were often demonized. Any violence committed by Native Americans was emphasized, and used as a way to portray them as less than the colonials.
Without the French to fight with, the British turned their attention to the Native Americans.
